Sonic Dreams Collection Wiki

Make My Sonic is the first game in Sonic Dreams Collection. A Sonic the Hedgehog original character creator, players can customize, pose, and photograph their characters, with their creations able to be exported to Twitter. If SegaNet is running, players are also given the option to upload their characters to the fictional servers, where they will then appear in the games Sonic Movie Maker and Eggman Origin.

The entirety of Make My Sonic's gameplay consists of creating Sonic-series original characters. While a promising concept on paper, any characters created with the game are very limited in customization, and inevitably result in a character which appears virtually identical to Sonic in every way but coloration - drawing attention to the fact that these "original" characters are basically still Sonic the Hedgehog himself, no matter how hard one might try.

Description[]

Make My Sonic was MJSTUDIO's first prototype with SEGA, a Sonic 'OC' (original character) creator. MJSTUDIO was committed to fan self-expression. They believed that Sonic was versatile enough for every genre, even sci-fi.

Originally, Make My Sonic was meant to create and upload avatars for use with every Dreamcast through SEGANET. Sadly, no future games supported this level of creativity.

[Version 3.2] Added Twitter support

Gameplay[]

Players can enlarge or shrink their original character's head, legs and arms, in addition to changing fur and background color. Names are generated randomly from character titles common to a caricaturized Sonic fanbase. The Photo Booth option allows players to take a screenshot of their character from a variety of angles, and optionally includes a "Printable Mode" filter. Once a screenshot is taken, it is saved in Sonic Dreams Collection's program folder. The player has the further option to upload the character to a running instance of SegaNet. Upon upload, the original character will be available for play in Sonic Movie Maker and Eggman Origin.

Make My Sonic also allows players to export their creations to Twitter. Like Sonic Movie Maker, a player's Twitter account can be linked to the game, and once connected can be be disconnected from an icon on the game's main menu. When exporting a picture to Twitter, Make My Sonic defaults to the following message: "I made my own Sonic, check it out! #sonicdreams"
