Sonic Dreams Collection OST is the official soundtrack album to Sonic Dreams Collection. Composed and produced by Arcane Kids co-founder Ben "torahhorse" Esposito, it was released on August 17th, 2015 through Bandcamp.[1] A feverish mixture of classic video game music, frantic nightcore, and sparkling Dreamcast-era sounds, the soundtrack was specifically produced to further emphasize the game’s theme of uncanny nostalgia.

As an easter egg, the release date in the soundtrack metadata has been altered to 1998, the frequently-referenced year of Sonic Movie Maker's fictional development.

Description[]

This soundtrack features longer arrangements than those contained in SDC. Also, some runtime effects were used to modify the music - all efforts were made to recreate the sound from the game, but some liberty was taken in the interest of making it actually listenable lol

-Composer Ben Esposito[2]

Differences from Sonic Dreams Collection[]

The official Sonic Dreams Collection soundtrack was produced with considerations for listening outside the game. The individual compositions have had their arrangements extended, and the distortion effects have generally been dialed back, resulting in a longer and cleaner take on the sound. Some tracks were also directly altered, such as the inclusion of appropriate sound effects during the introductions to "Beautiful Egg" and "Anticipation", and the addition of new samples in "Loud Server (Unsafe)".

Two songs are not represented on the soundtrack: "Soju" (Sonic Movie Maker's instructions theme) and "Bossa Preciosa" (SegaNet's idle easter egg). While it is unknown why the former was not included, it is speculated the latter's exclusion is a result of ownership concerns, as the song was performed by a different artist and is not owned by Esposito.
